card with a flourish

Happy Halloween Monday!  I had to hide all the candy in the garage to keep the fellas out of it for the trick or treaters tonight!  I've managed to keep myself out of it too, until I had to sneak a few nibbles this afternoon...too much temptation!  It's hard to believe it's the end of October already!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a flourish or swirl on a project...there are SO many to choose from that I had a hard time narrowing it down!  I'm in the middle of making Christmas cards andI always like to make at least one all white version, so  I used the poinsettia from the new Flower Market cartridge that I got for my birthday, but cut it all in white.  The flourishes are from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge, an oldie but goodie!  Sorry my picture is so dark...the glare off of the white made it really difficult to photograph.  The design team has some great projects over at BBTB2, so go take a look!

Football layout

Happy Monday!  We have a football themed challenge over at BBTB2 this week...cue the Friday Night Lights!  I've spent time on the bleachers this fall cheering on our high school team and watching Son#2 perform with the marching band, so I have a lot of pictures to scrap!

My football layout below could be customized for any school or NFL team by changing the colors.  I found this awesome football field background cut on the Sports Mania cartridge to get my layout started.  Our school colors are purple and gold, so my photo mats and lettering use those colors.  The Varsity Letters font gave that "school" feeling font for the high school initials.  And then of course I had to add a football!  While my layout will be of the band marching their half-time show on the field, this would work well for sports pictures if you have an athlete or get to attend an NFL or college game. Hope you will join us with a project and go see the design team projects over at BBTB2!

Edited to add:  The background is the Sports Mania cartridge, not the All Sports.

Halloween theme

Happy Monday!  Boy, fall is flying by-marching band season ends this weekend and leaves are falling, yet the weather cannot decide if it's Indian summer or cooler rainy fall weather.  We are having both!!!  I wore my winter coat one day last week, shorts and flip-flops another day.  My high schoolers won't leave home without their coat and
umbrellas, just in case!

Halloween is coming up in a few short weeks and we have a Halloween themed challenge over at BBTB2.  It's the perfect time to whip up a treat bag for that special someone or make a spooky themed decoration!  I will be attending an orchestra concert the night before Halloween at the middle school, with the orchestra playing in their costumes!  Should make for some interesting concert pictures, to say the least, so I made a layout.  I knew I wanted to find a way to use the Halloween word jumble from the Artistry cartridge, so I incorporated it as a design element.  Hope you will join us over at BBTB2 by linking up a Halloween project of your own this week!

Movie night layout

Happy Monday!  Fall is here with falling leaves and crisp, cool evenings.  What is more fun than having a movie night at home with some popcorn and apple cider?  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is movie night (or a movie themed project).  We do movie night fairly regularly around my house, bringing out the popcorn and root beer floats, so I made a layout for some movie night pics of the fam.  There's nothing better than being snuggled up on the couch in front of a roaring fire with my favorite peeps to watch something blow up (not a lot of chick flicks allowed with all my fellas around)!  I used a whole bunch of cartridges, but I love how it turned out!  I even hand-made my movie reel using circles from Plaintain Schoolbook!  Go see the projects from the design team and link up a movie project over at BBTB2 this week.

frame it up Autumn layout

Happy Monday!  It's been a busy weekend of fall festivals!  Son#2 (who is the brass captain in the marching band) played the Homecoming show at the high school football game Friday night and marched in the fall festival parade in our KC suburb Saturday morning.  Son#1 and Son#3 (who both play violin in a bluegrass band) performed in another local fall festival on Saturday and Sunday.  I am full of funnel cakes, apple cider, and home made root beer and seriously need a nap.  All this festivaling (is that a word?) is hard work, LOL!  But today is all about more college visits for Son#1-no rest for the weary parent...

Moving on to more crafty matters, the BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a cricut frame cut on a project.  As I took approximately 200 pictures this weekend, give or take a few, I chose to do a layout using a fall themed frame with a leaf (love it!) from the Artbooking cartridge.  I used a sketch from a layout design by Michelle Snyder for the basic design and added my fall elements.  Most of the cuts are from Artbooking, although I did cut the scallop circle from Art Philosophy.  Go and see some possibilities over at BBTB2 and link up a project!
